Garrard turntables are classic in terms of design and manufacture. These turntables are one of the best turntables in terms of performance and that classic look and are the result of over 80 years of experience and hard work. These turntables maximize the enjoyment of the music recorded on vinyl records. The 501 uses advances in technology which have come about in the years since the classic 401 ceased production. The Garrard 501 was named Best Classic Turntables at the CES show in Las Vegas, 2002. Classic 301 and 401transcription turntables are now available as officially approved "Factory Restorations". Loricraft is the acknowledged leader in the restoration of these Classic units which were launched 50 years ago.
Due to pressure of work and limited production capacity the manufacturers concentrate mainly on producing restored turntables in a plinth with a pickup arm. Each turntable has solid plinths, produced by local cabinet makers, and is ordered individually for each purchase, with mounting boards cut to suit the turntable model and arm required. The wood color/type and mounting board finish are chosen to meet the purchaser's requirements. The 501 incorporates Aroflux© motor, developed by Nigel Pearson, which features a unique flying thrust bearing, making it one of the quietest units ever used in this application.
